Olympics!

O grew up in a ski town, many of his peers went on to be Olympians (ski racing). One such buddy, our Gold Medal friend Julia, has the best gig ever in Beijing. I just saw her do a bit on the today show, which prompted this posting.

She is covering all sorts of random and fun stuff for NBC in a show called the "Olympic Zone" - through a series called "Julia's Must List", a list of all of the stuff she wants to do while at the summer games. Here is a link to all of the fun bits she has covered for NBC as part of this assignment.

Below is a shot of us with Julia from O's bday party a few years ago. Check me out with her Torino gold medal...I didn't want to give it back.

Julia is also keeping up her blog while she is in Beijing. Pretty cool stuff, check it out.

Roar in a Winter Wonderland

We are big Julia Mancuso fans  (more here) at this house.  We are getting excited for another Olympic year.  We are also getting excited to go see her race Vals D'Isere  in a few weeks.   I hope we can find our shirts :).

If you are not a Julia fan yet - watch this video and you will be :)

This one is really good too - I love that it is Nike and stars Julia and the Buckeyes (O-H-I-O) - I love when things I love come together!

YEAH JULIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Julia,

I imagine you are kinda busy up there in Vancouver, with 3 more events to go and a medal ceremony to attend. But if and when you check out Portland Sunshine, I want you to know we are soooooooooooooooooo fired up and proud of you. We will be wearing our tshirts tonight while we watch the coverage on TV.

Lots of love from your Portland Fan Club.

Go Team Tahoe!

Team Tahoe Silver Belle

I did warn you in advance, i LOVE the Olympics....so please forgive me for all the related posts. But seriously - doesn't she look sooooooooooo happy!!?!? Rightfully so! Yeah!

And did you see her commercial? Too cool

And my final Julia thought for the day - I really enjoyed this article. Maybe I like a little drama...maybe I agree that NBC may have picked the "wrong queen of alpine".

No doubt Lindsay is also amazing and adorable and I want her to also do well....but Julia sure got overlooked (not by me - haha)...and now she sure is on fire. Go Jules.

And one more Olympic thought before I wrap up this post - today is men's skiing...gooooooooooooo Marco, keep the Tahoe domination going! Goooooooooooo Marco!

Going For It

Update: BRONZE BRONZE BRONZE!  She is amazing!    Can't wait to see her on the podium!  Too cool!

Today is an amazing day to go for gold and Julia is halfway there!!!

SuperJules laid down an amazing downhill run to position her amazingly well for a medal today.  She is  going for gold in 10 minutes.  We are on the edge of our seats here in Amsterdam!  Go Julia Go!!!!

The pix below are from December...

More Team Tahoe

Facebook is so fun...thanks to it we can follow Team Tahoe in Vancouver, behind the scenes. Here are two of the fab Tahoe girls (Julia and Shannon) at the opening ceremonies. They both look so happy (and adorable)...and this was BEFORE Shannon got a medal.
And I love this shot of Julia at the opening ceremony.

How fun is the Olympics?!?! USA! Go Team Tahoe.

Today we are cheering for Marco in the men's downhill. Goooooooo Marco.

Whistler 2010!!

Hi there "guest post" fans. I'm back thanks again to my wonderful, supportive family. It's the year of the Winter Olympics. Given the need to cheer on some hometown friends and the proximity...I just couldn't pass it up. I met my sister and niece up in Whistler and we went to our first event....the men's super g.

The view from the bottom of the course

My 10 YEAR OLD NIECE...GNIX

My big sister...The Tahoe fan club...cheering on Marco

The men's super g medal ceremony...two medals for the US!!

More hometown Tahoe crew with Marco himself
Followed by a long night...but made it to the women's super g to watch Julia run first!

Kickin it with her sister and sister's boyfriend...more good Tahoe crew
Also ran into some VT crew and college roommate
And my high school ski coach

Following the women's super g...we headed to the flat lands to check out some x-country telemark pole pushing

The Olympics are cool...and it was great to catch up with friends and family

Portland Sunshine was also fired up with her Olympic souvenir!!

We Love Jules on (and off) the Podium

We love to see our girl Julia on that podium, esp on the tip top like she was yesterday when she captured first place in Garmisch.  Looking gorgeous and skiing fierce, this Tahoe girl makes her friends proud.  Go Jules.

Go Julia

She's on top of the podium again

Julie & Julia

All by myself, I saw it while in Boston. My wise grandmother was correct, I loved it just like she said I would!

Have you seen it? Did you love it too?

Another Day...

....another medal for Julia!!!

Silver again. Way to go!!! Too cool.
O is on a train up to Vancouver, so we can all look forward to another guest post upon his return.

Cribs

Has anyone caught the episode of MTV cribs that features Julia's Maui digs??

We saw it last night.  So fun to see.  She is so cute.  And if you saw it, maybe you noticed that the house looked familiar...like maybe you had seen it on an old Portland Sunshine post?  I figure the fine folks at MTV must read my blog...how else would they have picked out this house?

And  did you see her vespa...which was a key prop in these gorgeous Martha photos from her Sister's wedding.

Its not everyday that Cribs features a house you have been too.  I felt like a baller....

Thanks LL for letting me know it was on.  And for those that know us well....what do you think about the fact we have CABLE?!?! Heyyyyy!
