Shast-ahhhh

This past weekend was O's third time climbing Mount Shasta, but it was his first time to the tippity top.  A huge feat.  It took 12 hours round trip (10 to climb up, 2 to get down).  With headlamps on, they left their slopeside campsite around 3 am and started the 14,162 foot ascent.

Here he is, as high as a man can get on that mountain.

 Best buds.

At the tip top is the summit register.  How cool is that?
Pardon the Fbomb, but he was fired up (and hurting)!

Above the clouds.  Isn't it crazy?

When these two saw the snow, they were wishing for their own skis.

Papa!

Funny Confession #155

The work appropriate-ness of my feet is debatable.

Oooh la la

Number Pick Up

Here are pix of one excited mama picking up her Boston bib.  #14303 was a good number.  Did you notice that on race day I folded down that silly addidas logo, I was all about the swoosh.

GLove

Just found this photo on O's phone. Love him.

AFrame Motel

Love it. Not enough to want to get a room, but love it.

Funny Confession #154

I really wanted to do laundry all day long when I saw this place.

Radish Love

Are these gorgeous or what? I wish I liked them. Maybe I should try them again. More posts coming soon including some awesome shots from O's mountain mission this weekend.

LonnyLove

The new-ish Lonny is as good and inspiring as Lonny always is. Here are some of my favorite bits:

Weren't we just crushing on hanging centerpieces?  LOVE this one from page 14.

Our poor front door (and porch) needs some love, when we do it I think it may need a big F, like this H from page 106.

I have mentioned before that I want to be friends with Jamie.  I guess I wasn't the only one falling for her online.  Lonny did a great feature of her (adorable) and her home (amazing) and her store (dying to go).  So fun to see.

Dreamy

I am still so bummed I missed this fete, but I am so glad it was so well documented.  More lovely pictures along with an informative write up here.  The party looks like it was gorgeous, funky and fabulous, just like the birthday girl herself.

Dream catcher expertise (and supplies) was provided by Portland artist Rachael Rice.

Run Mama Run

Even after two babies, my old college team mate continues to dominate the Bermuda running scene.   This girl is amazing.  She won the Bermuda Derby half marathon this week, for the third time.  Her husband won the men's race, for the fifth time.  Go Ashley go.

Goat Rental

I did a double take the other night while cruising along SE 11th.  I noticed an empty urban lot had been fenced in and filled with some goats.  Signage alerted me that goats from Sauvie Island Goat Rental were there, helping to clear out the lot.  Does this happen in the middle of other metropolitan cities or is this just a Portland thing??  How does a land owner decide to rent goats vs. a lawn mower?

Banksy

Thank you Banksy for this.  Funny.

Mountain High

Speaking of TonTon Gilles, he just sent this picture from an early morning backcountry climb that he and O did in Vars.  Love it.

I love seeing pix of O in his element.  He is always such a happy guy, but pix of him in the snowy mountains always reveal an even higher level (good pun) of happiness.

While we are loving on O pix, check out this one I snapped on Saturday.  I absolutely love it.  He got up uber early saturday morning and headed up to mount hood for a sunrise climb.  This was taken when he returned home (around noon).  Red ski socks, green flip flops, board shorts, hydration system in his mouth, shades on, splitboard in hand -putting the "hot" in hot mess.  Love.

Shasta climb is this weekend.

French Summer

I hope none of you spend a moment worrying about what our slopeside french family does once ski season is over.  I assure you, they continue to live une belle vie.  The week after our visit, they headed south to their home in Sanary, where they run a parasail business for the warm months.  This family works hard, but they have made a lifetime of wise choices to ensure they live the life they want to live.  It is so inspiring.  O and I talk about them so often.  I believe all that stuff about how we can make our own luck and about how we can choose happiness.  These guys live it (remember tonton Gilles's shirt - Life is Fantastic - he exudes that sentiment).  If you are ever in southern france, take a ride with them!

O's sweet Grandmother Mamie lives in Sanary as well.  I adore this shot of Amelie visiting with her and giving her a mani.  So sweet.

Kara Goucher

This running mama rocked the rock n roll half marathon on Sunday.  She cranked out 13.1 at 5:35 pace to win the race.  Insane.  Can't wait to watch her run in the Olympics this summer.  It was so cool to be in a race with her.

Hanging Centerpieces

This Ruffled round up of hanging centerpieces is so beautiful.  Some of my favorites are below.  Our outside space would be a great place to play around with hanging centerpieces someday.

Soon maybe.  Probably not.  But maybe.
