Apartment Therapy!

Meet Ashley. She is super cute, uber stylish, and full of sassy, lovable spunk. We are so glad to know her and share our Portland life with her.

So Ash is a FINALIST over at Apartment Therapy (which is like my favorite website) for the Northwest Blogger position.

One of her posts was just published....AND it is all about my humble home! So fun!

Pleeeease head over to AT and give this talented gal some comments. Your comments will help the big dogs over at AT determine who to hire for this position.

Just between you and me...Ashley is the obvious choice for this blogging position. She will be amazing. Trust me, if she gets the job she will have such interesting and awesome AT postings from the Northwest for us all to enjoy! She has told me some of her ideas and they are fab. She has an eye for style and a personality to go with it. You want her to get this job. So click here, check out my digs, and then comment away...

Why are you still here? Go here instead.

But, then come back...

Update: Wow! It is so interesting to read the comments. It feels funny to have people talking about your house. Most comments are very nice, thank you for those! I'm flattered, and Ashley deserves the credit!

As long as AT is looking for bloggers with style and an eye for what is interesting - qualities Ashley exudes with humble confidence, I think they found their girl.

Another update: here are some links to other pix of our digs, if you are interested (or bored)

Swedish Home In Luxembourg

As you may know, I used to live in Luxembourg (a million years ago). Thanks to Facebook, I have reconnected with a few of my old buddies from Lux. One of those good friends still lives in Lux. She is Swedish. She recently restored and decorated an AMAZING home. I really want to go visit. Check it out...

Doesn't this house look so happy?! The little house did not always look so cheerful, look at the before shot...

What a transformation, huh? Here is a before from the backside...

And here are a few shots of the backside, after the remodel...

And please take a peek inside. So Swedish-inspired, so fabulous...

Below, my favorite area...don't you want to be invited for dinner?!

AW, thank you so much for letting me share these pix. I am in love with this home. xoxo

Weekend Report

Inspired by Birdie's early morning workout (and her top 10 finish for her division) on Saturday...

We decided to hop on the bikes and get a workout of our own. MC and the lovely SC joined us for a ride down to the Farmer's Market.

Fun was had by all...

Our Portland weekend was pretty perfect. I hope yours was too! Oh, and way to go Birdie...super grandmother...

Way to Go F.B.!

We are so proud of our buddy FB (father of this sweet girl). He has been working his butt off for the past 2 years (working, schooling, husbanding, and having a baby) and today he is an MBA graduate!

Way to go dude. Man we have smart and motivated friends...

Cozies

I love having a cozy on my cup when drinking something hot and yummy (e.g., a chai tea latte). But I always feel a little guilty reaching for the cardboard cozy. I want it, I like how it feels in my hand, I like the experience of the cozy, but do I really need the cardboard cozy?

Leave it to a creative Portland gal to be selling these cuties at local coffee shops. Things that are cute and green are so much better than things that are just cute or just green.

Portlanders, go get yours at vivo espresso on se 9th and Morrison. Grab one for me too...or perhaps I'll head over and get one for myself...I want to support this and look cute with my cozy all at the same time.

Ooh La La La La

If you want to be wowed and inspired, go check out the before and after pictures on Design*Sponge of the home in France that my highschool friend, Stephmodo, just restored...

And here is some good news....you can stay in this gorgeous Maisonette! Click here to make your reservations!

City Girls Playdate

Our hearts were in Central Park this morning. WKF's neighbor and friend SC was in NYC on a business trip (with her mama) and she had a playdate with my most gorgeous godbaby , who now lives in the big apple.

Don't you love when your friends become friends?! I love that these mama's hooked up for a playdate today. Oh how I wish we could have been there!

Farmer's Market in the Rain

Even in the rain, we heart the farmer's market. WKF walked around the loop...and then he was pretty tired...and just stopped. We kept going, thinking he'd catch up.

But he really couldn't take another step. He was wiped.

Papa carried him to the car, he came home and napped for nearly 3 hours. He really was tired!

Right Place at the Right Time

We were at a BBQ Friday night and the hosts were throwing away this bike. It was broken and their kids were a bit too big for it. O saved it, worked on it for a bit...et voila...WKF is pretty fired up with his new wheels!

And this thing is vintage...so much better looking than most of the baby bikes on the market these days. Score.

Important Uncle

My uncle in Vienna is a big deal. I mean, the dude won the Nobel peace prize (as part of a team at the IAEA). I think he had a pretty busy week this week. Here is a clip of him before the week started.

Impressive guy. It should be noted that if there was a YouTube video out there of him explaining how to brush your teeth or put on shoes it would be equally serious and impressive. He'd probably use similar hand gestures as well. There is just something about him. Stud.

How many other mommy bloggers are posting about nuclear energy? I'm so deep.

Alberta Street Fair

If the weather cooperates, I'd like to be here tomorrow. Will you be there? Will it be as great as the one on Mississippi Ave?

National Parking Day

Today is national parking day. This is the day when you can take over a parking spot in the city and make it into a park...or something like that. People in Portland get into it...I love the above picture from the Mercury. It looks like those funky PDX-ers are having a lovely breakfast in their PARKing space. Love it.

A Perfect Day

Yesterday may have been a perfect day.

After all 3 (4?) of us had a full night sleep (something that is pretty normal these days but I continue to be very mindful of how wonderful it feels), we got up and went to breakfast as a family (O took the morning off of work - such a fun midweek treat).

We went to Besaw's. It has been in PDX for over 100 years in the same location, and we had never been. It was great. Breakfast in a restaurant mid week really tastes good, doesn't it?

After an awesome breakfast, we did a quick walk around the NW23rd neighborhood and then it was time for story time at the library.

WKF and I try to go every week, but this week was special because Papa was there with us. WKF has 2 favorite things about story time - the bubbles, and the toys.

Here he is catching a bubble. Amazing, I know...

And check out his expression in this shot - we call it his Oh-face, it cracks us up every time...

His girl SC was there too. Like W, S loves the bubbles.

After story time, Papa went to work and WKF and I came home for lunch. We ate, and then we BOTH took a 2 hour nap...ahhhhhmazing.

Papa came home for some pre-bed playtime and bathtime with W. While the boys hung out and went through the nightly routine, mama went on a hike with 2 of her girlfriends - which was fun and felt great.

Post hike, we girls went to dinner. We went to a new place, the Laurelhurst Market. Wow. Steak Frites. Wow. Go there.

After dinner I came home and had ice cream with my man....

Um, life is so so so good. Have yourself a perfect day, you deserve it too.

WKF is so glad that his best friend SC lives right across the street. They play together every day.

Nick Lattanzi

Last week in Boston, while crusing down Newbury (thoroughly) enjoying a rather large serving of JPLicks Oreo awesomeness, I walked by a street perfomance better than any I've ever seen. I jotted down the kid's name, and looked him up online. I was thrilled to see you could download his album for free. Nick Lattanzi will be someone big I think. He was great.

Check him out. Very young and fresh and unique. Great performer. When he's big time you can talk about how you first heard about him from me...
