Space

I love the combination of interesting people doing interesting things in interesting spaces. Apparently Leah Verwey does too! She is an amazing photog who maintains Space, a site that "features the creative forces that make up Portland, Oregon and the spaces and places where they work". A few of her shots are below, and you should probably hop over to her site to check out more.

My job is many things...but creative and funky it is not. Perhaps that is why I love to look at all of these photographs. I'd love to see Leah capture interesting people in interesting homes - because I can't get enough of that sort of thing...
Keep up the good work Leah, I dig it.

Funny Confession LIV

I have always wanted to go to Turkey for a vacation.

So this confession is only funny because last night's episode of the Bachelorette really really gave me the itch to do it soon!

Istanbul...I can't wait to meet you some day! Thank you Bachelorette for being such an eye opening and worldy show.

And sidenote: I really like the current bachelorette. She is very likable. I hope she finds love and all, but at least she got to have a blast in Turkey.

Joy to the world. Joy to our family!

Ever since we first met Joy, she has felt like family. O's big bro proposed to her this past weekend...so now its OFFICIAL! Yeah! A new sister in law for moi!

A Gorgeous Dress for a Gorgeous Girl

KK, per my urgent email...you need to buy this dress. I love it and it makes me think of you.

Sweet Tiny Gingerbread House

Thank you LF for bringing this sweet gorgeous house (featured in the NYT) to my attention.

I want to go there. Right now. I'd climb the ladder up to the sleeping nook and take a long nap...

Yamasa

Yamasa Soy Sauce is a local company. I am posting some of their commercials in case you aren't fortunate enough to see them where you live. They confuse me as much as they crack me up.

Felt Food

I'm loving the felt food options on etsy. Some are ready to buy, some are patterns that you buy and make. Some of my favorites include

Yummy pancakes:

Cute groceries:

No calorie cupcakes :

Funny Confession XLXIII

I'm pretty sure I like Sesame Street more than WKF does.

If you haven't checked it out lately, you should (even if you don't have kids). If you are an anti-TV kind of parent, good for you - but chill out and make an exception for this.

It is especially awesome when they have good musical guests....

Norah Jones:

Jason Mraz (this is the latest song that O trying to learn to play on his uke)

Morning a la Pearl District

WKF learned that its good to have a friend (my old neighbor from ohio, from the highschool days) that works in a cupcake shop! He loved having a mini cupcake to start the morning!
After cupcakes and a visit with an old friend we hit up the urban country club.

There is nothing quite like Jamison Square park/fountain on a warm summer day with young kids. We came home soaking wet, totally exhausted and smiling.

Hello Sunshine

I saw this necklace on Lonny , it's made by Kate Spade. I love it. Bummer, it seems to be all sold out. Did I say that I love it?

Portland Burgers

I love burgers. So if bon appetit tells me that Portland has one of the top 10 new burger joints in the country...I'm going to go check it out. Foster Burger, here I come.

Have you been? Check out the menu. Wanna go?

Photo du Jour

We didn't bring the kids to the shower, but we did snap a family photo during shower setup. I forgot to post it, but wanted to. So, here it is.

And if you were wondering why the sangria was so good and sweet...

S'More Season

We kicked off s'more season in style with the fancy s'more at Laurelhurst Market last night. Who needs a campfire?

Photo Shoot

The babes and I had some old fashion photo booth fun last week. WKF thought the adjustable stool was the coolest thing ever...
The framed results made a good gift for father's day.

SweetP in Polly Flinders

Babygirl owned this vintage hand-smocked Polly Flinders number. This is one of my old frocks that Birdie saved and passed along.
I realize she is not a doll. But...can you tell I love to get this child dressed?

Photo du Jour

Father's Day 2010 - we got all dressed up in our best "i heart dad" T's and headed to Mother's. That place is always buzzing with action, it is so good and so fun. We surprised O with the red plate, at the restaurant. Our waitress was sweet to help us pull it off.

Happy Father's Day Daddy-O!

O is such a great dad. He gets up early and makes "super porridge" (oats, rice, lentils, millet, and kale) in the Cuisinart for WKF. He always magically pulls a tennis ball out of his pocket in random places so that WKF has something to play with. He comes home from work in time to give baths and read stories 99% of the time. When the 1% scenario arises and he can't make it, the only person more bummed than little WKF is O. He only speaks french to the kids. He takes care of me just as well as he takes care of the babies, but he does it without making me feel like a baby.

Here is O with WKF in the early days (2ish years ago)...

Here he is with SweetP in the early days (6ish months ago)...

Happy Father's Day my love! Falling for you was the best thing I have ever done in my life! (I am pretty sure that my sister just threw up in her mouth, sorry Lo - but I'm in love.)

Happy Five!

I can't believe this (11lb!) baby girl is turning 5 today! FIVE!
Happy Birthday sweet princess Z$

This is one of my most favorite pictures of her...way to go Z!

As Bare As You Dare

Tonight's the night. 10pm. Who is in?
Probably not me...but maybe some year I'll get brave...

I blogged about this last year too...with video...remember?

Update: They are estimating that 13,000 people participated. THIRTEEN THOUSAND. Wow.

Attic Dreams

It has been a while since my last post about an attic makeover....but from time to time I certainly still dream about making something out of the unfinished space we have up the ladder. Pictures like the ones below (from this post) certainly make me think about this topic. I love the bed on the floor. Of course I love that chandelier too.

Stroller Quilt

A really rad stroller quilt or blanket that you feel good about is an essential piece of baby gear. These look pretty unique and awesome...
These are another reason I wish I could sew.

However, I must say...SweetP has the most adorable stroller blanket, which was gifted to us from by a dear old friend from Lux. We don't leave home without this blanket. It is from this store, and if I am ever in Virginia I am dying to go there.

Funny Confession XLXII

I didn't post my real favorite from regretsy...it was a little bit scandalous and not in line with the sweet spirit of Portland Sunshine. I emailed it to a few close friends. If you are curious (you know you are) email me...its pretty funny.

Regretsy

April Winchell is doing a reading at Powells this weekend. I adore etsy...what is not to love about that site?? But I must say its almost as much fun to surf regretsy...brilliant work April. Having April in town this weekend overlaps with a huge craft summit that is also here in Portland. Funny. Awesome.

Below are some of my favorite pictures from recent regretsy blog posts. Hilarious.

Magic Cabin

Magic Cabin makes me want to be 4 years old again. This company has such beautiful toys and kid gear. I think I may order this owl purse for myself.
This mushroom table and stools would look awesome in our yard...

Ever since I got pregnant with WKF, O been scouting our yard to determine where the best place is to install a zipline.
