Funny Confession #271

Sunny skies and spring temps has made our post vacation adjustment to "reality" pretty easy.

Also helpful is the fact that (even after a full year) bike life in this gorgeous city still doesn't really feel much like reality...

Chalet Show You Some Lovely Swiss Chalets?

Our hotel was a ski-in / ski-out set up, but it was not "on piste" in the traditional sense.  It was better than that.

You could connect to the all the lifts/trams/gondolas and even the ski train but you had to ski down cool little streets to get there.  Then, you could ski back to the hotel from the top of any mountain in the area, but you had to know the route, which was always through rad little chalet streets (with lots of farm animals).

Skiing in and out of our hotel was a highlight of each day for me.  I also snuck away for some mountain runs a few days.  I hope you enjoy seeing these gems as much as I enjoyed pausing to capture them.

Swiss Living

On our recent trip, we were celebrating 1 full year of living in Europe (can't believe our airport goodbyes were a year+ ago!).  2 weeks in Switzerland turned out to be an excellent way to celebrate!

It is mind blowing how accessible Europe (and beyond) is from Amsterdam...all of this amazingness is a very affordable and short flight away.

Our Swiss accommodations did not suck.

Night view

 Daily apres on the patio

Snow-covered football field

 Excellent dinners

 Robe-tastic
Balcony love
Morning ski-out...
The calm before the apres storm hits the patio for cocoa
Did I mention we had a good view from the balcony?

And last, but not least...boot warmers in the ski room...now that is a nice touch...

Lets Talk Hair

Two things to share on the topic of hair:

Remember this silly post?  Well here is a bit of a followup.  Weren't we just talking about this (you know who you are)?  Amazing illustration by Merel Corduwener.

Even the guardian is talking about this topic.  Its like major news people.

Lift Love

Ski lifts are a special thing - they are a place where engineering, art, and mountain sports (all things I love) overlap.  Plus, I spend lots of time on them, with people I love.

In Switzerland, they were especially grand, because the pulley wheel thingies (an engineering term) were almost all exposed (I feel like they are usually contained in a cover thingie) and painted bright colors.

Funny Confession #270

I went out to buy milk and came home with vintage bell bottoms.

I couldn't just keep on rolling by once I spotted them. They fit perfectly. Before I knew it I was home, with them.

 It all happened so fast.

It felt great to buy something at Bloem, it is such a fabulous store.  The best vintage stuff (kids clothes, furs, home decor, etc.) in the best location (love the pijp), and they also offer haircuts for kids (which is so random but it works).  I really don't need another excuse to take p for a haircut...little girl is long overdue...but now I have one more reason to get on it...
