I think a baby seal just died...

Thank you Mayhem, I think the blonde lives in Portland.

Doodle Diary

My friend KK is always on the pulse of what is cool on the www.  She should really have a blog of her own, I would love it.

She recently posted a link to this NYT blog post on her FB page.  The artist documented a flight from NY to Berlin in doodles.  I love it.  Makes me want to doodle more (at all).

Roller Rink Action

How old does a kid have to be to go roller skating?

We have the raddest rink just a few miles from our house.  It is historic and authentic. Dying to check it out...cannot remember the last time I went rollerskating...

Friday Night Lights - circa 1994

An old highschool friend recently uploaded this picture to facebook.
I told you that we all loved our team and our school.  In fact, if my count is correct EIGHT of the girls are married to their highschool sweethearts.

We had a blast this past friday...but I was a little bummed that there was no facepaint in the student section...

Portland History Lesson

This weekend I went on a long (longest post baby) run.  I ran by the dockside and thought I'd share a photo and some portland history with my blog family.

Do you know why this place is famous?  Well, I'm glad you asked...

"On January 30, 1994, Kathy Peterson was emptying the garbage (at the Dockside) when she came upon several bags of trash that somebody had left in the dumpster. Upon examination of the garbage some very damaging evidence was found that led Tonya and her associates to be found guilty of the Nancy Kerrigan “club” incident. The most damaging paper that was found was an envelope with information concerning Nancy Kerrigan's practice schedule at her home rink the Tony Kent Arena. The handwriting was found to be Tonya's. She had earlier denied any involvement in the whole affair, but the garbage proved otherwise."

You didn't know I was such a history buff, did you?

Tragic and Ironic

Did you hear the news? The owner of Segway has died...in a Segway accident.  Yikes.

Bonjour

This may not look like much, but it puts our famille one HUGE step closer to throwing that fete I keep talking about (here and here and here).  Getting this in the mail today is a great way to kickoff le weekend.  We are (so much) close(r) to being official!

Funny Confession #LXII and #63

#LXII - Going forward I will not count my funny confessions like the romans because it hurts my brain and shakes my confidence everytime I have to try to put together a new FC post

#63 Tonight we are taking cuz to a highschool football game.  It will be an all american experience for her.  I'm going to get her a steamed hot dog from the booster club hot dog stand.  If steamed hotdogs and booster club stands are just an ohio thing I'm going to be totally bummed.  The funny confession is probably obvious here, but this night is totally for me as much as it is for her...bring on the hotdogs, cheerleaders, marching bands and highschool football!

Ever since my homegirl AB sent me this photo from the RHS (class of '95 forever!) game last week, I have had a big itch to be in the bleachers.
Friday night lights baby!

Loving our House Guest

Sweet Amelie is such a love. We have really enjoyed having her.

She makes dinners when I work late on Wednesdays...today I came home to this...

Apres dinner, A had some of her exchange student friends over - all boys. O lead them through a thrilling round of Portland Bingo. I am pretty sure that A was mortified.

Last night O was helping A with some very important pronunciation...similar words, very different meanings...

Traded in tutu for snowboard

So Tahoe, So Awesome

We have been invited to a wedding. We can't make it. But I had to share the awesome-ness of this thing...

The invites - sweet, very simple:
I know you can't read them in that photo, so let me share a few highlights:
"Come on out and celebrate...date, time, address...Dinner, party and campout to follow". Invite also mentions that you can set up tents, the dress is casual, and to please bring instruments. The invite does not provide any RSVP information.

"Set up tents"? "Bring instruments"? No RSVP information? This is one cool bride. I would break out in hives for her if I let myself think too much about the no RSVP thing.

You probably already figured this out, but these people are friends of O's from Tahoe. So effortlessly cool....and in case you can't tell from the photo - they are both gorgeous. Camping and all, I wish we could be there...

A Purse For Mama?

I've never been a shoes and handbag kind of girl. But every now and again I fall for one or the other. For the past few years my only bag has been a diaper bag. That will probably continue to be true for another 2ish more years at least. However, ever since laying eyes on this pretty sack, my mind has been wandering off thinking about ways to incorporate her into my life.

Halloween?!

Would it be totally lame and lazy of me to re-use last year's SuperW costume? It was so easy and sooooo cute...

If I do rally and think of a new idea, I hope it is half as special as these next 3...

I spotted these photos here, here and here. That sushi is just too cute. I think sweetP may have to rice it up this Halloween.

Keeping PDX Weird, Pirate Style

Ayyy..Did you make it to Cathedral Park for the Pirate Festival this weekend? We didn't either. More than 1700 Pirates did make it (as counted by two officials with Guinness World Records), making the PDX Pirate Festival the biggest in the US.

Polyvore

How did I not hear of this sooner? My hip friends must all know about it. Mimi, Jlo, RG, KK, TBLs, UncleRy...you gals (ha, Ry) holding out on me?

I have a feeling you all already know all about Polyvore...

Well, its new to me...and I can see that browsing it (and being a part of the interactive community) could be addicting.

For those of you that have been under the same cyber rock as I am, Polyvore is a site where you can pull together outfits (or browse through those made by others, examples above). You can also ask for fashion advice, see what the celebs are wearing, get links to sites where you can buy the hot new things. (Example, want some sky highs? click here for a rad selection...)
I will file Polyvore under: So much internet to love, so little time to surf...

Green Thumb Fabulousness

When we were home in Akron in May, we got a private tour of some ridiculously fab gardens.
Well, it's one thing if I tell you that their gardens are fab. It's quite another when their gardens are accepted into the Smithsonian Institution's Archive of American Gardens. Congrats to B&E...

Hand Dancers

This makes me wish my hands had more style and talent...I love the styling, I love the dancing.

A shout out to my slumdog friend - with a bit of practice you and your man could totally do this, you are do for another little bit of youtube fame.

Camera Phones are Awesome

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post.

Girlfriend was dropping off her kindergartner and eyed this skirt on another mom.

Girlfriend whips out her camera phone, pretends to be emailing. Instead she is capturing a photo of pulled-together-mama. Girlfriend uses the photo to build a color palette for her bedroom makeover.
So cute. Inspiration is everywhere...

PS - she has close to 50 comments on her post, she has to tell the other mom how much we all admire her style.

Books on a Wall

I admire this parking garage downtown everytime I pass by it. It's on campus at PSU.
