Photo du Jour

Funny Confession #66

Today I got a sitter mid day, a rare and special treat for me.  My objective was to go for a nice long trail run.  I drove to the trail head, parked...and fell asleep in my car...for an hour.  It was great.

Yet another reason I love my minivan.  She needs a name, don't you think?  Suggestions?

Polka Dots?

Filing this under: big girl room ideas for SweetP (or me?).  I dig it.
Reminds me a bit of this room.  Do I need something monogrammed??

Movie Update

I'm still working through this list, but I think I'm doing pretty well.

I joined Netflix. Hello, welcome to this decade, right? Love it.

There have been some bummers - for example, I couldn't find Le Petit Nicolas for rent/download anywhere and I am so obsessive about completing lists that I just went ahead and bought it which wasn't cheap but I really think I'm gonna love it (if it ever arrives...where is it?). Another example - we downloaded Happy Go Lucky using iTunes (before I got Netflix). Unless I am doing it wrong, downloading a movie takes for like ever. And then you can only keep it for 24 hours. Well, by the time we got around to finishing it, we got cut off because we hit the 24 hour mark with about 20 minutes to go. Huge bummer.

But there have been some great ones - Happy Go Lucky was ADORABLE and I sorta want sweetP to get the nickname Poppy because the girl in Happy Go Lucky is named Poppy and she was just so confident and likable. I need to see the last 20 minutes before I can totally commit, but I think I loved it.  Having a girl?  Consider the name Poppy, I just love it now.

September Issue - Loved it!

500 Days of Summer = My new favorite movie I think. I totally LOVED it. I could watch this scene over and over and over and today I did just that.  WKF was digging it too.

He is adorable, and don't you just LOVE having the feeling that they capture so well here?! Olibug - you make my dreams come true ooh ooh!  I just watched this last night but sorta want to watch it again tonight.

FoodInc - made me feel all yucky and yet I'm glad I watched it so that I can be more aware....it was certainly interesting and scary.  Yuck.

Up in the Air reminded me that I am sooooooooooooooooo glad we made the life change to quit big consulting firms (yawn, barf) and move west for more balance-focused jobs.  I can't believe we ever lived that life-on-the-road crap, but at least we saw the light!  I don't recommend this one.

I think I want to strike Up and Penelope from the list.  I'll watch them both someday, but not a high priority unless someone is actually reading this horribly long boring post and tells me otherwise.  Broken Embraces - I am curious about it, but the thought of sub titles makes me so tired and a bit stressed.  Not the goal.

An Education - next in my queue.

Are you still reading?  Wow, thanks.  I hate long posts and I'm sure you do too.  But since we've come this far...do tell...what am I missing?

Furbish

There is a girl out here on the world wide web named Jamie.  I don't really know her, but I sorta do...because I read her blog.  She recently opened a shop in Raleigh, NC.  Someday I want to go there to check it out.  I dig her style.  Gorgeous fabrics, pretty furniture and funky art.  Yes, yes, yes please.  The shop is called Furbish, cute name, right?

Books

We have lots of kids books, but very few adult books (thank you kindle). I have a handful of art books that I LOVE (thank you annie). Someday I think I'd like a well curated collection of pretty inspiration books. These are the ones I have my eye on.

I heard that this last one is not available to the "general public".  Hey Kate Spade, that is annoying.  And...it makes me REALLY want it...

I want to curl up with a cup of chai and read each of these....or maybe just look at the pictures.

Please let me know what you think is missing from my list...

3 hours, 40 minutes

To qualify for Boston, a gal my age needs to be able to run a full marathon in 3 hours and 40 minutes.  It takes me more than one hand to count the number of times I have run a marathon, trying for that time.  It takes me less than one hand to count how many minutes I have missed it by...

So...3 hours and 40 minutes means a little something to me...

On Wednesday morning, I was flying solo at home with the babes.  Wednesday is a work day for me...and while I am at work, the babes go to school outside of town.  I needed to get up, get dressed, get the gorgeous babes up and dressed, feed everyone, pack up food for school, and battle traffic.  Then I needed to smoothly drop each off in their classes with all their gear, get back in the car, more traffic, and get myself to work.  To accomplish all of this, I had to set my alarm for a 5:15am wake up.  When I finally got to the office, it was 8:55am.  Exactly 3 hours and 40 minutes.  I felt like I had just done a marathon when I sat down at work...and then my day "started".

Go me, bla bla bla.  The bigger point here is that I am so grateful to my helpful hubby because on a normal working day, he takes the kids to and from school (which is located at his work).  He also helps with the morning "get out the door" tasks, like dressing, feeding and packing up the stuff for these beautiful little people.

PS - tomorrow is a working day and I get to do the same thing again in the morning.  My goal is to shave some minutes off of my time....stay tuned.

I got the image above when I used google images to search "working mom" - funny.
